The more I watch this documentary, and navigate the website, the more astounded I am at the multiple ways people have accessed, and taken control of, our new digital world. One of my favorite segments in the portion of the film dealing with relationships and identity comes in the form of an 83-year-old Jewish woman, who along with her grandson Avrom became famous through a television show she has online, Feed Me Bubbe.
One thing Bubbe notes is the void that she feels her show may be filling in some people's lives. Do you think that people are reaching out because they're lonely and isolated, or do you think that it's not that computers are isolating us... but are bringing isolated people together?
Along those lines, consider the following:
I love how Rushkoff and Dretzin avoid placing gamers in a box. In the film, Rushkoff even says he "knows better than to assume all gamers are geeks" (paraphrase), and notes how gaming doesn't isolate people, but may, in fact, uncovering a new way for people to be intimate.
I encourage you to navigate the myriad of clips (that didn't make it into the final documentary!) and find something that interests you - feel free to shed some light on something I've missed! What strikes you the most about online identities? Especially check out the socializing page. Where do you fit in among all of these ideas and claims?
What do you think?

I don't know how my life would have been if I didn't have technology, because I'm part of the first generation to not remember a time before computers. At the same time, I can say with fair accuracy that I would not have a active social life even if I didn't have a laptop, because when I was growing up, my family went to church and the library, full stop. Throw in some classes and concerts and you have my life at college!
ReplyDeleteI'm a very retiring person (perhaps this is unsurprising in a ninja), but the internet has connected me with a lot of people I've never met, but with whom I have a lot in common. I even wrote a paper last semester analyzing a section of my online discourse community.
A lot of these ideas are circumstantial and vary between every person or the perspective taken. Instances in my own life, I would address that computers aren’t isolating us, or that people are lonely and isolated causing them to reach out towards others through technology. I would not say I am a lonely person, I associate myself with countless people, but I do use technology to bring myself closer to others. Skype, AIM, Facebook are all portals I use to stay in touch with family and friends across the world. I do believe the converse is true though, that computers bring isolated people together; without computers I would be much more limited and in a sense isolated.
ReplyDeleteGaming and online communities definitely do not isolate people but rather create a vast and limitless world for people to communicate and interact. Personally, I used to spend countless hours on the computer battling, farming, grinding, and cheating in massive multiplayer online role-playing games (MMORPGs) interacting with people from around the world. These virtual realities become a second life, a third dimension where everyone is able to experience the unfeasible in reality. These are some of the only communities that cannot be demographically isolated or measured. Even though it is so vast, it makes our world that much smaller.
I don't believe the internet can do just one of the things. Does is have to be so black and white? I think that if you allow it to isolate you: play video games and not talk to anyone, then yes isolation is very near you. But if you let it connect you: facebook and every network out there can help you stay connected. Like the message today hit me: " Technology is neither bad or good, It's powerful."
ReplyDeleteWatching the video in class, I am now able to understand where other people's views come from when dealing with technology as a whole. Yet I feel there are many different things that help piece together the technology that is now used on a daily basis. Many people use technology to write documents, check email (which used to be hand written letters at one time), along with the fact of communication, and the once in a while check of definitions on the Internet. To me, I feel as if without technology, the community as a whole wouldn't have adapted the way we have. The way of using technology how they showed in the video on how people now use technology to do many more things, including meeting people, not having to go to work to do work, and even teaching kids. I actually feel that by teaching kids through computers is a smart idea but the teachers are also taking some things from the kids while giving them things in return.
ReplyDeleteDuring class today, we made a list of what we lose and what we gain through technology. One of the main things that my smaller group pointed out and then was pointed out by the other groups when combining our information was the fact that we lose person to person communication, or face to face. I feel that this type of verbal communication to one another is something that seems to be fading as newer and newer technology is being created. Now there are telephones, texting, AIM, instant messenger, email, and headset talking where you can get the voice but never really the face to face communication. In a way, this makes life easier, but in another it makes it where it is a bit more difficult when one needs to speak face to face to actually have the courage to do so.
There is also the fact that someone in class re-mentioned the quote said in the video that stated, "Technology isn't good or bad it's POWERFUL." I feel as if this quote clearly defines what technology is, for when you lose something because of technology I feel like you will be gaining something as well. When you lose verbal communication skills you are learning how to communicate through technology and get your message across. There is also the fact that with technology now you are able to communicate with others around the world easier, without having to quite worry about getting in reach with them over the phone, and most likely playing phone tag. I feel that the video clearly showed different ways that technology has impacted our lives, but I agree with the quote that nothing good or bad is coming from technology for it is just reshaping our lives and helping us adapt to the new environment coming. This is just my thoughts and reactions to the video we watched in class though.
I liked the question
ReplyDeleteDo you think that people are reaching out because they're lonely and isolated, or do you think that it's not that computers are isolating us... but are bringing isolated people together?
Honestly the internet has so many different possibilities for this answer and I would agree that both statements are true depending on the times. There are those people out there who spend their days on World of Warcraft as we saw who to me are clearly isolating themselves not from people, but from reality. When they aren't playing their game I wonder what they are thinking about during the day. You can't say that they aren't thinking of their job, or surroundings when they aren't on WOW because I'm sure the anticipation to be getting back on their game, their alter reality is just eating at them. WOW isolates people from the world which is something that has never been done before.
The same can be said for these people. Maybe they are reaching out through the internet because they are lonely. They have no friends in the real world so they have created their own in which they are different. This is the way that the internet is helping people. But the question i would like to ask to anyone is that is it really helping them by "living" playing in this alternate reality?
In this documentary I feel that the main topic is that of the internet, true, but the bigger picture is technology as a whole. Which does involve the computer mainly, but now the internet can be on phones, and as fast as a normal computer, thats where I see technology has taken off the computer with the internet and cell phones. Me personally I never really caught on to the whole internet craze as a lot of people in the world today. When i was a little kid my parents would not let me inside unless it was dark or raining, they always told me to go outside and play, so I did. I couldn't play video games or watch Tv. When i was older the rules weren't as strict but i still didn't have the options that I have now, I didn't have internet until Senior year of high school when it was needed for school to make things easier on my school work.
ReplyDeleteI feel though that technology has done a lot of good and makes living life faster, easier, and in some cases have saved some lives. For example the Military segment about how the Marines were training with simulation rounds, role players, and sights and sounds to have them get used to the Fog of War. By this, which I have used first hand, helped greatly from the "old" style of training which was unrealistic and just shooting silhouetted targets, harmed more innocent lives than the bad ones. Now that things have changed there is higher success and more people know what to expect.
For all the internet gaming, I guess it alright in moderation but when it becomes your entire life I think that is a problem. Mainly because people are so wrapped up in their own fantasy world that they forget what real life is and life just passes them by, the don't stop to smell the roses so to speak.
All in all technology advancement is inevitable and we as a people are learning how to adapt and use it to be beneficial just like the dawn of time and the invention of the wheel and sharpened stick. It is a new age, and people are going to have to learn to use all this technology if they want to keep up with the times I am all for the internet and just how far and complex to me it is, but as long as I know the basics I can use it, even though I may not use it to the extreme measures and let it consume my life I still see a need for it. So it is true and very accurate of what was covered in class that technology is not good or bad, it is powerful
I feel as if technology, mainly the internet, can be a powerful thing for many people. However I think that it can also be a handicap for people also. The way the interenet effects people is completely up to the user, whether they know it or not.
ReplyDeleteA way that computers/internet can be a tool for people is that they need to use it in daily life. For the majority of people who use the internet daily would probably be high school or college students. From asking their teachers a very important question to doing a homework assignment. Today, online homework occurs in every class. Withought the internet, assignments probably couldnt be done and classes would be failed.
On the other hand, the internet can be a handicap for people. Facebook is a great way to keep in touch with family and friends, however, its also a great way to lose track of time and just be glued to the computer screen for hours upon hours without getting anything productive done. The younger generations tend to be glued to the computer screen having fun playing games and competing against people they have never met before.
So, in my opinion, the internet and technology can be equally as good as it is bad. I absolutely agree with the statement made in class; "Technology is niether good nor bad; it's POWERFUL"
I agree with Pacito, the internet can isolate someone. I have seen my friend stay on Facebook while tending to her digital farm and her digital neighbors, while still talking to her boyfriend. We really do not see her, the only reason we know she is alive is if she is posting status updates. But the internet is a way for us to stay connected with our friends who are miles away. I think the internet keeps me from being isolated, because I am at this big university and I did not know anyone here at first, and the internet kept me talking to my friends and family from back at home. Basically like Justaviet said, computers bring isolated people together and without computers we would all feel a little more isolated.
ReplyDeleteMaybe the gaming community keeps people from being isolated, maybe they do not like the person they have become and therefore found an online escape. Creating themselves and a newer and better model, and making online friends is so much easier. I think the internet keeps us connected, and separated all at the same time.
I can honestly admit that i never viewed gaming as a way to form relationships. After watching digital nation, i got to see some of the relationships formed, from friendship to marriage. Through gaming, gamers form a bond with one another, making the initial connection to start their friendship.
ReplyDeleteI think that Technology has great potential, some of which has already been exhibited in things such as scientific advancements. Then there are examples such as the ones shown in digital nation, in which students admit to getting distracted by social networking sites, email, phones, and texting. I think that these examples prove an old saying that most of us have already heard, "all things in moderation." I think that this saying should also apply to technology, technology in moderation can be great. But sometimes it can be distracting. I'm sure we have all experienced the situation in which we are talking to a friend, and they get a text and immediately reply, taking away from the conversation we were having. Once again, technology can be great, but there are situations in which the use of technology should be decreased.
I think that technology has such control over many peoples lives in this day and age. I really did not think that its technology fault that kids may get addicted. The parents should have more control over how much time kids spend on the internet. The fact that children are getting started early on how to be computer savvy is really good because they are already ahead. The world everyday is getting more technology based.
ReplyDeleteIn the movie it showed the pros and cons of the world being more technology based. I think that there will always be pro and cons, but since the world would probably be a mess without technology, the pros out way the cons because people do not want to think that technology is bad. Which from the saying that "technology is not bad or good, but powerful" makes a lot of sense because people can't really put it in a category even though people try and put it in one.
I think that technology has its pros and cons but the fact is, everyone is going to learn how to use it. Thats all there is to it because our whole world is using technology in many ways. My parents are often like the old lady in the video above, they have no clue how to text on cell phones and have very little knowledge with computers but enough to survive. In 30 years if an adult doesn't know how to operate a computer then they will most likely not be successful and will just be left behind. In a weird way its kind of like natural selection. Those who get it will continue to progress and those who don't know how to use technology will be lost. I personally feel like that is kind of sad because sometime technology fails and people are going to struggle when it comes to doing stuff on their own. For example many people probably have poor basic math skills because they just use calculators for everything. We don't know what the future with hold but we know technology will be a huge factor in it.
ReplyDeleteI believe that technology isolates us from our physical surroundings as well as connects us to others worldwide. What I mean by isolating us from our surroundings is that as we use technology, such as laptops and cell phones, we tend to lose track of time and don't notice what's going on around us. I know that when I'm really enraptured by something I'm doing on my computer I don't realize what is happening in my room, let alone my house or hall. However, the isolated people of the world have been brought together by technology. People who probably wouldn't have met if it weren't for the internet are able to have a romantic relationship or reconnect with people from gradeschool.
ReplyDeleteWe are the first generation that had the technological advances that we have, such as smart phones and laptop computers. But we are not the first to have a new technology introduced into our society. Each society has to decide for itself what the effects of that particular technology/invention are going to be. We have a choice to make our lives revolve around computers and the internet, which most people have, but there will always be a new technology that comes along to advance our society. With so much reliance on appliances with software and hardware I wonder what it's going to be next.
I feel like we established in class that the world is becoming geared towards the use of technology. You either jump on board, or you are going to be left behind. Like the above said my parents don't know what they are really doing when it comes down to the use of computers, but they are able to work through it and figure out what they need to do, because they realize they must do this to survive. But for example what is a person to do when the technology they are sooooo dependent on fails? I know that where i work if the credit card machine is to go down, it is completely chaotic. People just don't know what to do, and they have become so used to using their cards and just swiping, that they don't know what to do when this option is available. And the American people are just working to get more advanced stuff, so like I said before. Either get with it or get left behind.
ReplyDeletePersonally, I don't necessarily believe that the internet is isolating anyone per se, rather it is allowing us to reach and branch out. Yes we may physically be isolated while we are surfing the web, Facebooking, or even enjoying a fun session of ChatRoulette, but we are actually connecting with people, words, and ideas which stimulates us in multiple ways, such as physically, mentally and emotionally.
ReplyDeleteI took at a look at a clip with Danah Boy and it was absolutely stunning and spot on, in my opinion. She tries to explain how the internet offers individuals the option to escape their daily life, and be someone, or something they aren't or could never be in "real life". It makes perfect sense though, because how many people on YouTube do you see trying to make it famous online? They just want their 3 minutes of fame and get their clip recognized by millions of users and people all over the world. It's just a form of approval.
So not only do kids/people have to compete and fight for acceptance and approval in the "real world" at school and in the work place, but there is also a sense of wanting to be accepted and approved online also, which I believe just adds to the stress load of life these days, which can't be good for the youth that are being born and raised smack-dab in the middle of all of it.
There are many different interpretations when it comes to the internet and how we live our day to day lives. Personally I feel that we are letting it take over our lives. Instead of a kid going out and getting some exercise, they are opting to play video games or surf the net. As the video showed there are many kids and even adults who are severely addicted to gaming. Surprisingly enough, when I was flipping through channels on my tv today there was actually a showcase on MTV about people addicted to gaming where it is taking over there lives to where they cannot even function in society normally anymore because they "HAVE" to get back to their games.
ReplyDeleteThe internet can be a very resourceful tool, but I think that it needs to be limited. People shouldn't have to ONLY text others. They can call or talk to them in person. I think that society is loosing touch with personal connections and human contact. They are isolating themselves in this "virtual world" that is potentially harmful.
I feel bad for those who do not know what it is truly like to live without a cell phone, internet, or gaming systems. This addiction has gotten out of hand for many people in not only America, but the rest of the world.
Many of the replies to this post have very valid points. Personally, I believe there is much at risk if we over indulge or in some cases addicted to any type of technological device. If people (especially children) do not experience the outdoors it could be a problem for many people. If you are on Facebook or dedicating your life to a game then you forget how much stimulation you can receive from the natural world. The best thing about having your mind stimulated by physical activities is that it's free.
ReplyDeleteI also believe that technology can be a very important thing. People are able to communicate with each other and send idea's to enormous groups of people with a click of a mouse. This helps productivity for many companies and businesses. One of the most important things about technology is the internet, due to the fact the amount information that is at our fingertips. You can look up almost anything in a couple minutes.
I honestly can not decide to promote how amazing technology is or how it may be our downfall someday. I would never want a world with too much technology that promotes laziness and a instant gratification type of mindset, but I do appreciate the amount of good things technology has done for people.
Whatever people believe they just need to stop saying technology is bad or good, they need to start to use it and decide if they will use it in a positive productive way or a negative way.
Technology as a whole has played a key part in our society by shaping us. We have won wars with the advances in technology but it can be our down fall as the human race. Over the years technology has shape the way we work and live. I practically live off my Blackberry. Strangely enough, when my Blackberry broke, I had two different feelings. I had the feeling of being out of sync with all my friends but I had the feeling of some freedom. Being disconnected gave me the opportunity to live my life to the way I want to. I do use technology a great deal in my life but I never let it consume me. Like the the state of New Hampshire says "Live Free or Die".
ReplyDeleteThe idea that the Internet is creating an isolation between members of a community is a very challenging one. It is almost a catch twenty two situation. The internet pushes us farther away from human contact in a sense that we no longer have the physical, face-to-face contact. We lose the effect of actually being in the same room as the person we are conversing with. Going over to someone's house to talk to them is becoming a more sentimental gesture. Most people would think that the subject of the conversation was going to be something serious or important if you are going to take the time to go to their house instead of just Facebooking them. At the same time, the Internet helps make the world "smaller" by allowing us to connect to people in ways we have not been able to before. People can Facebook chat with their loved ones over seas in seconds. If you know someone fighting in Iraq, you can contact them to see how they are doing. Before technology and the Internet, that was not possible. Business men can make clients in other countries by holding meetings with them through Skype. We are able to make contact with people wherever they are on the planet, yet be physically alone at the same time. Using the Internet to connect is become almost, impersonal. It creates a need for technology, without it could we function as a normal society, or would we be absolutely lost? Isolation within the usage of the Internet is a tricky idea to fully grasp. For every pro there is a con.

ReplyDeleteI agree with the last statement fully. I've broken my phone a few times and, although for a little while I was upset and felt out of touch, I started to feel relieved and it was like a break. We are surrounded by technology everywhere we go and although it may "isolate" us from society in a way, it must be excepted in order to succeed. But, I feel that we need to take a break every once in awhile and just get away from technology.
ReplyDeleteOn one hand technology can be a healthy social network portal, and on the other, it can really alienate people from the world. The old Jewish women really found a healthy way to use the internet by having a cooking show. This is a healthy example the internet being utilized. The grandson actually states that he belives the internet brought years to Bubbe's life. The second video really shows how technology can bring people together physically. These people seem to really be friends and have a true connection. Some even found their future husband or wife. However, they have to be connected night and day to the game porta. I believe this is an example of alienated portal. These people display how technology brings isolated people together.
ReplyDeleteIt's hard to say how I would be without technology, considering I grew up in one of the most technologically advanced generations. But to me, I have never seen technology as a way to find new people. I've always seen it as a way to stay connected with family and friends using websites such as Facebook. I'm not one of those people that will just friend request any random person because I like their picture or something like that. Also, I'm not a gamer by any means so I don't understand how some of the people shown in this documentary can set their entire day or week even, around one game. I'm split to whether or not I think technology isolates people. When it comes to say a cell phone I would say that brings people together because they can always be connected. But, when it comes to chatting on a video game or meeting random people in a chatroom and becoming friends, I would say thats isolation. I was amazed to see how many people played World of Warcraft that just sat at home all day long just to play that game. That's cutting them off from the rest of the real world.
ReplyDeleteI personally don't like how attached everyone is to technology. I appreciate that in some circumstances technology is a positive thing, such as quick communication, but I don't like how so many people are relying on it for entertainment. The fact that people can waste an entire day staring at a screen and pressing a few buttons boggles my mind. Of course how much or how little one relies on technology is a personal choice but I hate to see our society become one that just sits and stares at a screen. To me that is a waste of life.
ReplyDeleteIt's interesting to see the relationships built through technology. I know for myself I grew up with more technology than most kids. At the age of 3 I already knew how to work an IMB and was taught how to use Mac and Windows by the age of 5. As technology grew and the internet became a mainstay in it's usage, I began to forge relationships through internet chat rooms and social networking. Some may not call these lasting relationships, but eventually I ended up meeting some of these people in college. It's kind of a scary thought. One of these people happen to be within my major so we happened to have many classes together. As we talked we exchanged screen names to find out that we had met once in a music chat room. I think as we continue to evolve in the digital age things such as this will become more prevalent. Many of us consider the relationships built through internet chatting to be superficial, but I truly believe that they can become more "personable". Of course this can only be done if we are willing to build a bridge between technology and reality. While scary as it sounds, and for some a nightmare situation, it can be another way that we can meet new people within this digital age.
ReplyDeleteI believe that technology is a positive thing because it simplifies life and makes the world in which we live more enjoyable. I think that it can in a sense take over a persons life but I also think that technology such as the internt is very useful for friends to stay in contact whenever a person moves away, or for people with similar interests and common goals to come together and unite into one cyber universe which could possibly become a reality. I know what my life was like before the internet but I was also fairly young at the time and I was more interested in playing outside. I believe technology is an important aspect of life. I also believe that people go to school to learn new things, to enhance the universe in which we live. The whole purpose of getting an education is to share your knowledge and ideas with the world in some way, the purpose is to simplify life, and to make the best out of our world. So if we did not have technological advances then what would the purpose be of getting an education and trying to better our lives as well as the lives of others?
ReplyDeleteTechnology brings people from around the world together under a common bond. MMORPG allows them to interact with people who they may hold a prejudice against if meet on the street. The internet can also give a face to the fearful that allows them to be who ever they want to be; such as a man who has no self confidences or is ashamed of his personal appearance can speak to a woman without the fear of being judge. This also can reduce shallow mindedness by allowing people to know the real person before meeting the physical on, assuming they are honest.
ReplyDeleteI see the increase in technology as a great increase in power, but we have to remember that with this power comes great responsibility. The human race now looks on itself as the most advanced it ever has been, so we must learn to harness the power of the technology we now have so much access to.
ReplyDeleteBut of course we could look to the social future as one completely ruled by technology. If a person were not connected to any digital social networks, could he still make friends? Or would he find himself trapped in a world where all his fellow men are connected to their various forms of technology. Like reverse zombies. Those infected stay indoors and stay out of contact with those not connected to their World of Warcraft server or their Facebook page.
Digital nation really opened my eyes to the realization that technology as consumed our world inside and out. Everywhere we look technology is there, people on cell phones and smart phones and laptops and iPads all surfing the web or texting a friend and checking there emails and updating there facebook status. The world as we know it is gone. It seems sometimes and to some people that the real world is the dream and the virtual world on the internet is reality. Gamers that play hours and hours a day on their online RPGs like World of Warcraft (WOW) or Second Life ,which before seeing Digital Nation I had never heard of, becoming more and more lost to the real world. Playing games isnt a bad thing but when you let it run your life and everything like eating and breathing become second to games it stops being a game and becomes a obsession.
ReplyDeleteI agree with the comment about "healthy" uses of technology earlier stated, although I would like to elaborate on that particular aspect. It's important to realize that anything our society has adopted into our everyday lives could be taken and used in a way that is unhealthy. For example, medicine. Medication is crucial for us today, even though a lot of the time it is not requred for life. But tons of people use drugs for recreation and end up becoming addicted. does this mean drugs are bad? No. We just use them in unhealthy ways. Internet and technology advance our society in a countless number of ways, but because of those people who use it in unhealthy ways it has become a controversial issue to some people. People are so worried about the negative effects of technology on the world now. We have become a society that not only used technology, but we abuse it like a drug. We have become addicted to it and most of us don't even realize it until faced with an intervention, so to speak. As soon as our phones break, we get anxious. Once our computers freeze up, it's the end of the world. I think we are criticizing technology too much in saying that it specifically is the problem, I think WE are the problem. We need to learn how to readapt to a lifestye that uses technology to solely enrich our lives, like Bubbe's cooking show.
ReplyDeleteI think that technology is in fact bringing people closer together in a way, and alo takes away some of the isolation. It helps to connect with people, whether by instant messaging, e-mails, video chat, or social networking, the sense of isolation is not felt with these.
ReplyDeleteTo add to what Justaviet said about the MMORPGs, I also believe that these online games are bringing our world closer. I know of a couple that lived on opposite ends of the counrty and met online that are now living in Oklahoma married with a new daughter thats about 20 months old. These games give some people this alternate world that totally lets them check out of reality and live in this world that they can help create and decide who they are, from an Elf to a Fighter pilot dogfighting over europe. This world lets them experience things they never could in reality. They are given the chance to be the hero.
ReplyDeleteSo i do believe that internet and computers, and technology in general is bringing our world closer together always making the planet a smaller place.
I agree 100% with Edge. I think the technology is in fact bringing people closer to each other. People who lack the skills needed to carry on a conversation person to person are able to talk to someone via phone or internet. But at the same time this could be a bad thing because it does cause this different image. Someone could be great to talk to over text and internet, but could be completely different when actually talking to them.
ReplyDeleteI agree with Vneck Biker that some people are becoming how biker previously put it like reverse zombies that stay inside and away from other people. There are adults that do this I know but how many kids do this instead of homework or going outside and palying or playing a sport? Technology can become very addicting very easily, the key is that we must regulate ourselves. Each persno must choice when to put the mouse, or iPhone, or laptop down and go outside or just away from technololgy and socialize with the real world.
ReplyDeleteThere's no doubt that technology is helping to bring people closer together. It does in fact seem a little isolating in a physical sense, but there is a good chance that on the web, there isn't as much isolation, and the person is free to open up and be whoever he/she choses.
ReplyDeleteSo I don't really look at technology as isolating people, because it opens other doors for people to express themselves.
i agree with most of comments. the technology is helping to bring people closer together. even the computer users don't see each other in physical activity, but in physical sense.
ReplyDeletei saw documentary movie about person who damaged his spinal cord. he can't move without any help. he literally stays his bed 24/7. there is one thing he can do. meet people on internet.
i believe technology is not making us as isolating people, it make us closer to each other.
I also agree with what most of you have said. Technology is helping bring us closer together. At the same time though, I think we need to be careful to not let our face to face communication fade away.
ReplyDeletehaving read what the others have written, i tend to agree that technology is a good thing. it helps people stay connected with friends and family. that being said, i do not see technology as a way to meet people. the idea of finding some random person on Facebook, friending them and then openly telling them all about yourself is not something i would consider doing.
ReplyDeletewhen it comes to the question of technology isolating us or bringing us together, i think it brings us together more than anything. but like everything else out there, technology is good in moderation. when taken too far it can be bad.
